a few, few, a little, little

Evening, my darling friends!

Count nouns: friend = friends, book = books, table = tables, gun = guns, etc.

noncount nouns: milk, water, break, chocolate, money, air, anger, etc.

I have a few friends.

I have few friends.

"A few" gives a positive meaning and it means that you have some friends.

"Few" gives a negative meaning and it means that you do not have enough friends and you are not popular.

I have a few articles online. It means that you have some articles online and it is good.

You have few articles online and you want to go against that professor?! This means that you do not have enough articles online and it gives a negative meaning.

I saved a little money last month. It means that I managed to save some money last month and it is a positive thing.

I have little water and we are thirsty. This gives a negative meaning and it means that you do not have enough water and you will remain thirsty which is negative.

Questions:

Replace the underlined words with a few, few, a little, and little.

Some reading is better than none.

I made some friends last night.

Farid is not liked at all! He has almost no friends.

You do not have enough evidence to prove this. There is scant evidence for this view.

Thank you,

Farid
